Make a visit to the Sailors Memorial remembering the Great 1913 Storm on Lake Huron, at the Flag Plaza below and just north of the Blue Water Bridges in Port Huron. Also, make a visit to Goderich, Ontario, for another 1913 Storm Memorial on Lake Huron's eastern shore.
February 22, 2014: The 33rd Annual Great Lakes Shipwreck Festival will be held at the Washtenaw Community College at the Morris Lawrence Building on campus. This all day event is sponsored by the Ford Seahorses Scuba Diving Club, the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, and the Detroit Historical Society. For more information go to: ShipwreckFestival.us.
Watch for the grand opening of the new National Museum of the Great Lakes in Toledo, Ohio, this spring. The Great Lakes Historical Society will operate this new multi-million dollar facility on the banks of the Maumee River which will also feature a Great Lakes Maritime Park, and the restored museum steamship, Col.
